A doughnut chart is a circular graphical representation used to display the distribution of a dataset's parts or categories in relation to the whole. The circle represents the total value (100%), and each "slice" of the doughnut corresponds to a specific category or component of the data. The size of each slice is proportional to the relative value or frequency of that category within the dataset. Potential use-cases include:

Energy Sources: A doughnut chart can visually represent the mix of energy sources used for power generation, such as the proportion of electricity generated from coal, natural gas, renewables, etc.

Renewable Energy Distribution: Displaying the contribution of solar, wind, hydroelectric, and other renewable sources to the total energy output helps assess sustainability efforts.

Chemical Compound Composition: Pie Doughnut charts can illustrate the percentage composition of different elements within a chemical compound, aiding in understanding its molecular structure.

Drug Distribution by Type: A pie doughnut chart can show the proportion of different types of drugs being produced or distributed by a pharmaceutical company.

Starting the Control

To start the control click on the “Assets” button in the upper left corner of the PI Vision display.

In the upper part select “weruDoughnut” by clicking on it.

Afterwards the desired attribute from the asset tree could be added to the display via drag and drop. The Doughnut control appears on the display and can be used.

Add additional attributes

When the control is already present on the display, it is possible to add more attributes by dragging and dropping them on the control.

Configuration

  • Mode: If you choose “Normal”, the data will be aggregated using the Aggregation over the selected time range. If you choose “Aggregate by Tag”, you need to select a Data Signal and an Aggregate By Signal. The Data Signal will then be aggregated devided into sections with equal value in the Aggregate by signal and aggregated using the Aggregation option.

  • Format: Here you can specify whether you want to see percent values or absolute values

  • Colors: This option can be used to remove tags from the symbol by clicking the red X button and to adjust the colors of the sections when in Normal Mode

  • Legend: Here you can customize how the legend should be displayed. In Legend Mode “Off” the legend is hidden. In Normal Mode, you can specify an offset which shifts the legend downwards to avoid overlaps. In Scroll Mode the Legend is displayed on the upper end with a scroll bar.
