Multi Line Text

The Multi Line Text symbol is intended for use when a tag or attribute contains lengthy strings that the default value symbol cannot wrap or display across multiple lines.

It ensures that long text is presented in a readable format, improving clarity and usability. This is particularly useful in scenarios where text input spans several lines, such as in descriptions, comments, or notes.

Starting the Control

To start the control click on the “Assets” button in the upper left corner of the PI Vision display.

In the upper part select “weruMultiLineText” by clicking on it.

Afterwards the desired attribute from the asset tree or a PI Tag could be added to the display via drag and drop. The Multi Line Text symbol appears on the display and shows the value.

Change the Size of the Control

In case that the legend or some part of the control is not visible, it is necessary to adjust the size of the control. To do so, the first step is to change into edit mode (Icon in the upper right corner) and in a second step to click on the control. The eight appearing dots around the control can be used to adjust the size that everything is visible.

Configuration

With a right click on the control it is possible to press "Configure". Thereby the configuration tile appears.

• Transparent Background: This option disabled the background color, allowing it to merge into the existing display.

• Background Color: Sets the color of the background of the symbol.

• Text Color: Sets the color of the font in the symbol.

• Font Size: Sets the size of the font used in the symbol. The value needs to be a positive decimal.

• Text Alignment: Sets the alignment of the text. Possible values are: Left, Right, Center and Justify.

• Overflow: Defines what happens if the text does not fit into the symbol. Scrollbar shows a scrollbar on the right hand side. To disable the scrollbar, this option can be set to Hidden. Please note, that you will not be able to see the complete text anymore until you resize the symbol.

Removing the Control

Before removing the control it is necessary to switch into edit mode (Icon in the upper right corner). Thereafter it is possible to click on the control and press the delete key to remove the control.
