UNC
The UNC (Universal Naming Convention) symbol is designed for embedding documents into PI Vision displays. This specialized symbol enables the seamless integration of external documents into displays, enhancing the user experience and information-sharing capabilities.
Starting the Control
To start the control click on the “Assets” button in the upper left corner of the PI Vision display.
In the upper part select “weruUNC” by clicking on it.
Afterwards an arbitrary attribute from the asset tree could be added to the display via drag and drop. The Table control appears on the display and can be used.
Using the Control
The control must be configured before the first use, by depositing a file among other options. After this has been done, the stored file can be viewed immediately by clicking on the control.
Configuration
Title: Sets the title of the control that is shown on the display.
Path: This specifies the path to the document.
Use Prefix: This option can be used to pass optional parameters to certain programs like Office.
Is Domain Specific: Can be used to display different documents depending on the domain of the user. Useful if e.g. the office should see a different version of a document than the production, but both want to use the same PI Vision display.
Use HTTPS: This option specifies whether the path should be used locally or accessed as a web call. This can be useful, for example, if documents are shared on a SharePoint.
Disable Visuals: If this option is activated, the text and icon of the control are hidden. The functionality remains the same.
Removing the Control
Before removing the control it is necessary to switch into edit mode (Icon in the upper right corner). Thereafter it is possible to click on the control and press the delete key to remove the control.
